I am 67 yrs. old and had a MRI of the brain and optic orb because I have distorted vision and light gray blotches moving in my vision. The MRI states there is slight prominence of the subarachnoid space in the retrobulbar portions of the optic nerve sheaths and also mild optic nerve kinking. There are a few patchy foci of hypertense T2/FLAIR signal foci in the white matter likely representing microangiopathy. On the sagittal T1 series there is some circumferential T1 shortening about the V4 segment of the vertebral artery and minimal mucosal thickening in ethmoids. Please give me your opinion. Thank you. Lillian
1.The features suggest there is growth / inflammatory features seen in the optic nerve. 2.It is recommended to get a contrast study - to see the enhancement pattern. 3.In case of inflammatory features - treatment will be enough with followup scans. 4. The vascular changes could be age related plaques which are seen in the vessels. 5. Carotid Doppler to see the extension and intimal thickness - to make sure weather systemic or focal pathology.
Good luck. Hope i have answered your query, any thing to ask ? do not hesitate to ask. http://doctor.healthcaremagic.com/doctors/dr-ganesh/62888
